Bologna has ended a 51-year wait for a major trophy by beating AC Milan 1-0 to win the Italian Cup. Dan Ndoye returned from injury to score the only goal and help Bologna to its first Italian Cup since 1974.

ROME (AFP) – Bologna won the Italian Cup on Wednesday after beating AC Milan 1-0 in Rome and ending a 51-year wait for a major trophy. Dan Ndoye scored the goal in the 53rd minute which gave Bologna a historic victory, their first honour since last winning the cup in 1974.

Fabio Capello insists that Bologna were worthy victors of the Coppa Italia trophy, even though he ‘didn’t like’ the game that was played out at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night, particularly from a Milan perspective: ‘The Rossoneri did nothing,
