BUFFALO, N.Y. — James Reimer has been an NHL mainstay since the 2011-12 season, playing for five different teams and starting at least 20 games in each season. The Buffalo Sabres announced Tuesday they agreed to terms with Peyton Krebs on a two-year extension that will pay the forward an average annual value of $1.45 million.

Krebs was the Sabres’ lone restricted free agent who hadn’t signed his qualifying offer. The Sabres tendered him an $874,125 qualifying offer, but Krebs wanted a longer term and more money and managed to get both with this contract. The Sabres now have just under $7 million in cap space, according to Puck Pedia.

Primarily used as a fourth-line center since his trade from the Vegas Golden Knights in November 2021, Krebs has 22 goals and 62 points in 202 games in the NHL.
