A man has been arrested in Italy over the notorious alleged murder of two housemates in inner-city Melbourne almost half a century ago.

A man suspected of the 1977 Easey Street murders in Australia has been arrested in Rome. The 65-year-old, holding dual Greek and Australian citizenship, was apprehended at Fiumicino airport following a flight from Greece.
