Pittsburgh Steelers 2024 first round pick Troy Fautanu suffered a potentially significant knee injury that could force him to miss the rest of his rookie season. The news was first reported by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Fautanu suffered a ‘tweak’ in practice on Friday and went for an MRI shortly after practice.

Fautanu was scheduled to make his second career start when the Steelers (2-0) host the Chargers (2-0). The 23-year-old Washington product had been slowed by a knee injury during training camp but impressed coach Mike Tomlin when he was cleared to return earlier this month.

As reported by ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter on Friday, offensive tackle Troy Fautanu suffered a knee injury and was considered out indefinitely. It is now being reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers will be placing the rookie right tackle on Injured/Reserve. The Steelers are preparing to take on the Los Angeles Chargers in the home opener.
