PGMOL, the refereeing body for English football, has confirmed that it is aware of a new video published by The Sun in which suspended Premier League referee David Coote is allegedly seen snorting a white powder.

According to The Sun, an eight-second clip of the under-fire Coote has emerged of him using a rolled up banknote to snort what appears to be cocaine. The report suggests that the video was taken on 6 July 2024, one day after he acted as a support VAR official during the quarter-final encounter between hosts Germany and Spain.

Premier League referee David Coote was suspended by the PGMOL referees' body on Monday pending a full investigation after a video circulated on social media showing the official allegedly abusing Liverpool and former manager Juergen Klopp.

Referees' body PGMOL says it is taking new allegations around Premier League official David Coote "very seriously".

Professional Game Match Officials Ltd is "aware of the allegations" and "taking them very seriously" after a video appeared to show suspended Premier League referee David Coote snorting white powder.

English soccer referees' body the PGMOL said on Wednesday it was taking new allegations against David Coote very seriously and European soccer body UEFA said it had suspended the Premier League referee.

The English official was filmed disparaging Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp and has since been relieved of his refereeing duties until further notice.
