Fire crews were able to stop the forward progress of a 3-acre brush fire in Poway — dubbed the Ted Williams Fire — that broke out just after 1 p.m. Monday near a hiking trail by the intersection of Ted Williams Pkwy and Pomerado Road, just behind the Poway Fire Department Station 3.
