Armen Sargsyan, the leader of a paramilitary unit wanted by Ukraine, died from his injuries following an explosion on Monday morning.

Armen Sarkisyan has been described as a "crime boss" by Ukraine's SBU intelligence service. It said he was suspected of participating in and aiding "illegal armed groups" and had formed a pro-Russian military unit made up of local convict fighters.

A Russian strike on a residential building in central Ukraine killed at least 14 people, including two children, emergency services said, one of many attacks across the country this weekend.

Russia launched a barrage of drones and missiles on Ukraine on Saturday, killing eight people and damaging dozens of residential buildings as well as energy infrastructure across the country, Ukrainian officials said.
