6.4-magnitude earthquake hits Taiwan; chipmaker TSMC says all sites operating
A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck a mountainous, rural area of Taiwan’s south on Jan 21, the island’s weather administration said, injuring 27 people and causing ceilings of homes to cave in according to the local authorities. The quake had a depth of 9.4km with its epicentre in Dapu township in Chiayi county, the weather administration said.

Southern Taiwan earthquake: TSMC operations unaffected, impact assessment ongoing
At 12:17 a.m. on January 21, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Dapu Township in Chiayi County, Taiwan, with a peak intensity of level 6 (lower). The tremor also reached intensity level 5 (lower) in Tainan and Kaohsiung.

TSMC says Taiwan fabs are operational again following 6.4 magnitude earthquake
In a statement to DCD, TSMC said that as a result of the earthquake, its fabs in Taiwan’s Southern Science Park recorded a maximum seismic intensity of level 5, while fabs in Central Science Park recorded a maximum intensity of level 4 and Hsinchu Science Park fabs (including Longtan and Zhunan) recorded a maximum intensity of level 3.
