Several schools and businesses in western Massachusetts were either closed or delayed on Thursday due to the wintery mix.

Snowfall overnight and into Thursday morning left some people waking up to around an inch of snow in western Massachusetts.

Groundhog Day has become the deciding factor of whether we will see an early spring or six more weeks of winter and, Monday morning, many in western Massachusetts woke up to a fresh coat of winter white.

After more snow fell across western Massachusetts over the weekend, the seasonal snowfall total for Westover Airbase in Chicopee is now up to 18 inches. On average by this time of year, there is usually around 35 inches, an amount that hasn’t been seen in a few years.

Massachusetts is in for a “parade of storms,” starting with some snow on Tuesday night followed by a more impactful storm that could cause a “sloppy mess” for the Thursday morning drive to school and work.
