One of those is The Wild Robot, a book-to-screen adaptation starring Lupita Nyong’o and Pedro Pascal. Critics have screened the animated offering, and it sounds like audiences are in for a pretty emotional experience.

As a kid's movie, “The Wild Robot” succeeds. There’s not much to dislike here, only the promise of what could have been if the filmmakers had slowed down and trusted their audience.

I don’t know what DreamWorks Animation’s most visually pleasing movie was before The Wild Robot. I just know whatever it was it’s not even close to being the aesthetic marvel of writer-director Chris Sanders’ gorgeous new film.

It's great news, then, that The Wild Robot delivers on its trailer's promise a thousandfold. Director Chris Sanders, known for Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon, has crafted a sweet (and yes, tear-jerking) tale of motherhood and connection, all backed up with some of DreamWorks' most stunning animation to date.

DreamWorks Animation has a potential Oscar nominee for Best Animated Feature, releasing in theaters on September 27th with their adaptation of the New York Times #1 best seller, The Wild Robot. I do not make bold proclamations like that lightly.
