Hours after a Jeju Air plane crash-landed and burst into flames, killing 179 people on board in the worst aviation disaster on South Korean soil, a photo of an aircraft's burnt out fuselage was shared in social media posts that falsely claimed it showed the wreckage.

Several passenger plane crashes have occurred worldwide this year, including a Wednesday morning Azerbaijan Airlines wreck that has left dozens feared dead.

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Infrastructure said Friday that a flight data recorder from Jeju Air’s crashed Boeing 737-800 will be shipped to the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on Monday.
