Kia is recalling more than 80,000 vehicles due to floor wiring beneath the front passenger seat that can become damaged and prevent airbags and seat belts from deploying properly.

Kia is recalling over 80,000 of its electric and hybrid vehicles over a floor wiring issue that increases the risk of unintentional and improper airbag deployment.

Kia is recalling more than 80,000 electric and hybrid vehicles in the United States because of improper airbag and seat belt deployment, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Saturday. The affected vehicles are the Kia Niro from 2023-2025, Niro EV from 2023-2025 and the Niro plug-in hybrid from 2023-2025.

Niro SUVs over a wiring issue that could prevent the air bags and seat belts from working properly. The automaker is recalling 80,255 of its 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid crossover SUVs because the floor wiring assembly beneath the front passenger seat may become damaged,
