WWE Raw’s Netflix debut did not disappoint as a live event spectacular, but its decision to book a one-off standalone show meant a missed opportunity to hook casual fans.

Professional wrestler Hulk Hogan was mercilessly booed during World Wrestling Entertainment’s inaugural episode of “Monday Night Raw” on Netflix.

On January 5th, Kieran Culkin won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Feature Film. He won the award for his performance as Benji in “A Real Pain”. The next night, the WWE Raw on Netflix premiere was held in Los Angeles, and Culkin was one of the many stars in attendance.

In a stunning twist, Raw will also see the return of The Undertaker. PWInsider Elite reports that the legendary figure has been spotted in Los Angeles, just ahead of the show in nearby Inglewood. The Undertaker is reportedly slated to make a special return, with plans for his iconic "American Badass" entrance on a motorcycle.

Settling into my couch as Netflix's first-ever broadcast of WWE Raw began streaming, I couldn't help but marvel at the sight of Los Angeles' Intuit Dome — 18,000 fans packed to the rafters, phones raised to capture history in the making. Even through my TV screen, the electricity was undeniable.

From the celebrities in the audience to music star Travis Scott accompanying WWE Superstar Jey Uso to the ring, Monday’s production felt more like a premium live event (PLE). It felt designed to appeal to a wider audience than typical pro wrestling fans — and the new distribution channel on Netflix was clearly intended to take advantage of the platform’s worldwide reach.

WWE RAW is listed as the top television show in the United States on Netflix. WWE RAW premiered on Netflix on January 6th; the company delivered a star-studded show from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
