The Bedford Police Department has reported that they have charged a local woman with child abuse following an investigation into incidents at a daycare facility.

A daycare worker in Bedford is facing child abuse charges after officials conducted an investigation when a child's arm was broken.

The Bedford Police Department reports a woman has been arrested for allegedly breaking the arm of an infant at a daycare facility in November 2024. The police said that on November 26, 2024, a complaint was received stating that a five-month-old infant suffered a broken arm at the local daycare facility.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Tuesday announced new efforts to make child care more accessible and affordable in New York. According to a news release from her office, Hochul will propose a $110 million Child Care Construction Fund to build new child care facilities and repair existing sites,

The issue is personal for Hochul, who left a job in the Washington, D.C. office of Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan because she couldn’t find child care.

She also proposed creating a pool of child care teachers and substitute teachers through to provide staff to keep child care centers open and to work in new centers that will be built.
