The Biden administration is awarding $3 billion to U.S. companies to boost domestic production of advanced batteries and other materials used for electric vehicles, part of a continuing push to reduce China’s global dominance in battery production.

The U.S. Energy Department said Friday it plans to award $3 billion to 25 battery manufacturing sector projects in 14 states as the Biden administration works to shift the supply chain away from China.

American Battery Technology Co. and lithium-producer Albemarle Corp., are among 25 companies getting more than $3 billion in funding from the Biden administration to boost domestic production of advanced batteries and components.

The summit will take place at his residence — the first time as president he's brought foreign leaders to the state.
