KERRVILLE, Texas — With more rain on the way, the risk of life-threatening flooding was still high in central Texas on Monday even as crews search urgently for the missing following a holiday weekend deluge that killed at least 82 people, including children at summer camps. Officials said the death toll was sure to rise.

A desperate search is ongoing in Hunt, Texas, for missing campers and a counselor from Camp Mystic after severe flash floods, which also claimed the life of Camp Mystic Director Dick Eastland as he attempted to save children.

Chloe Childress, a counselor at Camp Mystic, died during the flooding in Hunt, Texas, according to a representative of her high school.

Torrential rain and flash floods hit parts of central Texas on Friday. At least 24 people have died in the floods, and more than 20 children are missing from Camp Mystic. The National Weather Service said the Guadalupe River at Hunt hit its second-highest height on record.
