A yellow weather warning for heavy rain with a risk of localised flooding has been issued by the Met Office. The warning is in place for Essex, Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It comes into force between 08:00 GMT on Sunday until 06:00 on Monday.

The wind warning is in effect from 8am until 3pm on January 26, while the rain warning arrives at 8am Sunday, lasting until 6am on Monday, January 27. Issuing the alerts, the Met Office said: " Spells of heavy rain may lead to some local flooding during Sunday and Monday.

The Met Office has said that as Storm Éowyn weakens and clears to the northeast of the UK, Saturday will remain a breezy day everywhere with strong winds persisting in the north. It will be drier for many, with showers replacing persistent heavy rain, these wintry in the north, especially over higher ground.

Storm Éowyn is forecast to make landfall in Ireland late on Thursday before moving on to the rest of the UK on Friday according to Met Office models. The storm will bring gusts of 80mph to coastal areas and 60mph inland with potential for a danger to life caused by flying debris.
