The Samsung XR headset project has been an open secret for some time, but a new report suggests it has finally settled on a design we’ll see in 2025. The bad news? It could be landing later in the year than we’d like and might not be as ‘XR’ as we had hoped.

Today we’re announcing that Meta AI will now be available on Ray-Ban Meta glasses in France, Italy, Ireland, and Spain, giving more people the opportunity to get things done, get inspired, and connect with people and things they care about, right from their glasses.

Meta announced it is opening up Meta Lab, a pop-up experiential retail space for its Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses starting November 8th in Los Angeles. The temporary store will be around through the end of the year and allow customers to try out the glasses and customize their glasses cases as they shop.

There’s no precise word on how much they’ll cost when they launch, but Xiaomi is known for producing more affordable tech than its better-known rivals, so we expect its smart specs to start at less than Meta Ray-Ban’s $299 / £299 / AU$449 starting price.

It looks like Samsung's much-anticipated smart glasses, developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, won't arrive until late 2025, and they'll be sporting some familiar specs. The latest report comes from the Korean paper Maeil Business Newspaper (via Jukanlosreve) which reported on a paper by a firm called Wellsen XR Research.
