A little more than two years ago, Amanda Anisimova took a break from tennis because of burnout. A year ago, working her way back into the game, the American lost when she had to go through qualifying for Wimbledon because her ranking of 189th was too low to get into the main bracket automatically.

Amanda Anisimova was asked, moments after the biggest win of her life, if she ever thought she'd make it back here. The American women's tennis star had stepped away from the sport in 2023, citing mental health reasons and burnout. After her comeback in 2024, she didn't even make it out of qualifiers at Wimbledon.

Amanda Anisimova failed to qualify for Wimbledon's main draw. On Thursday, the American provided a gutsy effort to upset the world's top player at the grass-court major and reach her first Grand Slam final.
