The Jets are headed in a new direction after hiring Aaron Glenn, who played for one of the toughest coaches in NFL history in two cities.

Aaron Glenn was hired to be their 19th full-time head coach on Wednesday. Glenn, who was the Jets’ first-round draft choice in 1994 and played eight seasons for the team, spent the past four years as the Lions defensive coordinator.

Glenn comes back to New York after a strong playing career as a former first-round pick in 1994. He is entering the top job as a first time head coach but has been with the team as a scout, and has had other stops around the league as an assistant under Sean Payton and Dan Campbell.
