The Pittsburgh Penguins waived Tristan Jarry on Wednesday after a rough 2024-25 campaign. This opened the way for veteran Alex Nedeljkovic to receive the bulk of playing time in the crease. He received his first start as the new primary goaltender on Friday night against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (18-20-8) tanked their recent five-game homestand, winning only once. The resulting fallout was a drop in the standings behind six teams for a playoff spot, and general manager Kyle Dubas waived starting goalie Tristan Jarry.

Nedeljkovic had a secondary assist on Glass' goal with 8:17 left in the second period and he scored an empty netter with 2:42 left in the third.

The Tristan Jarry era in Pittsburgh isn't over just yet. Jarry, the 29-year-old goalie, cleared waivers and can now be sent to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman and others reported on Thursday.

Goaltender Tristan Jarry was placed on waivers on Wednesday, the team announced. The 29-year-old signed a five-year, $26.8-million extension with the Penguins on July 1, 2023, meaning he has three years remaining on his current deal with a cap hit of $5.38 million, according to CapWages.
