In one of the most newsworthy free agent moves in WNBA history, 10-time All-Star Brittney Griner has agreed to a deal with the Atlanta Dream, according to Alexa Philippou. Griner, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 draft, has spent her entire career to this point with the Phoenix Mercury .

It’s the end of an era for Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas. Per ESPN ‘s Alexa Philippou, the Phoenix Mercury are reportedly acquiring the 11-year veteran via the second blockbuster WNBA trade in less than a week.

The Phoenix Mercury were finalizing a deal to acquire Alyssa Thomas from the Connecticut Sun, a person familiar with the trade told The Associated Press on Tuesday night. The Sun also will send Ty Harris to Phoenix,

The dominos continue to fall in the 2025 WNBA Free Agency, this time with Alyssa Thomas and the Phoenix Mercury. On Tuesday, the Mercury traded for the All-Star and Olympic Gold Medalist, according to Alexa Philippou of ESPN. Thomas was an unrestricted free agent, but the Connecticut Sun “cored” her, giving her a one-year extension.

The Sun will receive guard Natasha Cloud, wing Rebecca Allen and the No. 12 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft in exchange for Thomas. Ty Harris will also head to Phoenix in the deal. The full trade was initially reported by Howard Megdal of The Next and later confirmed by Philippou.
