New York Islanders coach Patrick Roy talked about defenseman Ryan Pulock suffering an injury during the game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.

Pulock headed straight to the Islanders' dressing room just 15 seconds into the first period appearing to favor his left arm.

The New York Islanders (21-20-7) fought back from an early 2-0 deficit to win their fourth straight game and defeated the Carolina Hurricanes (30-16-4) 3-2 on Saturday night in UBS Arena.

The Islanders have won eight straight Saturday games (six at home and two on the road). The Isles are 14-13-3 in their last 30 games (8-0-0 on Saturday; 6-13-3 on other days). Ten of their last fourteen wins have come on Saturday or Sunday.

Brock Nelson’s overtime goal propelled the Islanders to a 3-2 win over the Hurricanes that extended their winning streak to a season-high four games.

The 5-10, 175-pound Perunovich logged 18:52 and was a plus-2 with two shots, earning enough of Roy’s trust to play key shifts in the third period. Tony DeAngelo, signed out of the KHL on Friday, played 22:11 with two blocked shots as he also earned his first point as an Islander with an assist in his second game.

It was DeAngelo's first point in two games since joining the Islanders following a KHL stint, and while the Isles didn't get a power-play opportunity Tuesday, he should see a heavy workload with the man advantage as long as Noah Dobson (lower body) and Ryan Pulock (upper body) are on the shelf.

The New York Islanders (21-20-7) are above NHL .500 for the first time since November 14, 2024. This season has gone so far off the rails at times that it feels like the NHL world is circling around the bones of the core that came within a game of the 2021 Stanley Cup Final.
