The National Weather Service says snow — heavy at times — is in the forecast for northern Ohio. A lake effect snow warning is in effect starting at 7 a.m. Friday through 7 p.m. Saturday for Summit, Portage and Cuyahoga counties.

Winter storm warnings were in place for seven states across the country from the National Weather Service (NWS) early on Monday, with up to 17 inches of snow forecast in some areas. A winter weather advisory was also in place from the NWS for parts of Utah at the time of writing.

The Kansas City area could be in for a tough wintry weekend, with freezing rain, snow and bitterly cold temperatures. But weather​ forecasters say there’s still lots of uncertainty about​ the exact timing.

LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Snow accumulations between 1 to 3 feet. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph may cause snow drifts several feet deep.
