A “ Holes ” TV series has been ordered to pilot at Disney+, Variety has learned exclusively. The potential show would be based on the book of the same name by Louis Sachar, which was previously adapted into a 2003 feature film by Walt Disney Pictures.

Disney+ has officially commissioned a pilot for a television adaptation of “Holes”, Variety has exclusively reported.

Drew Goddard will executive produce the show that's a new take on Louis Sachar's 1998 book and the 2003 movie.

The original Holes starred Shia LaBeouf as Stanley, a teen sent to Camp Green Lake for a crime he didn't commit. The quirky mix of family curses, buried treasure, and desert drama made the movie a hit, grossing $71 million worldwide. The cast included Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight, and Patricia Arquette, who helped bring Sachar's world to life.

A television show based on Louis Sachar’s Holes has been given a pilot order at Disney+. Published in 1998, Sachar’s Holes tells the story of a boy, Stanley Yelnats, who is sent to a juvenile detention camp after being wrongly convicted of stealing a famous baseball player’s sneakers.
