After Moo Deng sent the internet wild after playfully biting and headbutting keepers in Thailand, the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland was delighted to announce the birth of their own endangered calf to parents Otto and Gloria.

Born around four months ago at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand, Moo Deng swiftly became a viral meme, inspiring sketches on Saturday Night Live and single handedly launching her own fandom for pygmy hippos.

Haggis is already a social media star, of course, leaving the platform formerly known as Twitter all... a-twitter. But maybe the best part is that her arrival provides a much-needed boon to the endangered pygmy hippo population.
