An experienced backcountry skier died in an avalanche on Red Mountain Pass in Colorado and his wife was the one who found him buried in the snow.

A wife found the body of her husband buried under 3 feet of snow after he failed to check-in following an avalanche in Colorado, an official report stated on Wednesday, Jan. 15

She spotted an avalanche on the slope, initiated a transceiver search and immediately acquired a signal, the report said. She pinpointed him with her avalanche probe and yelled for help as she started digging through 3 feet of debris his body was buried under.
