Cherokee National Forest will be getting a portion of the $43 million that the U.S. Department of Transportation has sent to repair damages in national forests and a national park caused by Hurricane Helene.

WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — $43.1 million in emergency relief funds will be immediately available to help affected areas still struggling after Hurricane Helene, the U.S. Department of Transportation said.

Officials with the Arkansas Department of Transportation announced Friday that they have received a $43.9 million grant for rehabilitation of the U.S. Highway 49 Mississippi River Bridge between Arkansas and Mississippi.

Federal lands in western North Carolina are set to receive more than $30 million in emergency funding for infrastructure repairs in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
