Two people were killed in an Israeli strike in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley area, the Lebanese health ministry said on Friday, after the Israeli military said it had struck several Hezbollah targets overnight in the Bekaa Valley and along the Syrian-Lebanese border.

"The IDF remains deployed in southern Lebanon and will operate to remove any threat posed to Israel and IDF troops," it added. The airstrikes took place as Lebanon said Monday that the ceasefire deal with Israel, which expired on Sunday, has been extended until Feb 18.

The Israeli military said in a statement it had attacked Hezbollah vehicles that were transporting weapons on the edge of Nabatieh. Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati strongly condemned the two strikes on Nabatieh and described them as a violation of the ceasefire arrangement with Israel.

At least one person was killed and seven others were injured on Monday, when Israeli forces opened fire on Lebanese villagers, attempting to return to their homes as part of a ceasefire agreement, according to Lebanese security sources.
