The National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory at 8:28 p.m. on Wednesday valid from Thursday 4 a.m. until Friday 4 a.m. for Higher Elevations of Indiana as well as Mercer, Venango,

Snow showers are expected across Pennsylvania starting in the late afternoon into the evening hours on Thursday. A clipper system will bring rounds of snow showers across northeast and central Pennsylvania Thursday and Thursday evening.

Light snow will arrive Thursday afternoon into the evening in southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey, according to area forecasters. The National Weather Service is predicting less than an inch of snow but does acknowledge the possibility of 1-2 inches of accumulation in some areas.

On Wednesday at 9:04 p.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory valid from Thursday 4 a.m. until Friday 7 a.m. for Northern Erie and Southern Erie as well as Crawford County.

A prolonged light snow event in Western PA is expected Thursday, with some of the snow making it east over the mountains. Temperatures well below freezing along with a very low sun angle this time of year will mean that any snow that falls will stick to all untreated surfaces.

More snow is expected to come through the Pittsburgh area on Thursday. And, while only and inch or two is forecast, the timing could make things dangerous on the roads.
