Tulane coach Jon Sumrall said he wanted two quarterbacks with plenty of starting experience and a third with college playing experience out of the transfer portal, and that is exactly what he has gotten with the addition of a former Ball State starter on Sunday.

According to On3, Hughes ranked as the No. 1 running back in the transfer portal and as the No. 10 player overall. Hughes also ranked No. 7 in the transfer portal in terms of NIL Valuations, as On3 estimated his value to be $650,000, which is the highest mark for a running back.

For the past few seasons running back Makhi Hughes has been one of the biggest pieces of the Tulane Green Wave’s success on the football field. Now, he'll play his next season of college football elsewhere.
