The White House says President Joe Biden will establish two new national monuments in California that will honor Native American tribes.

The designation of the Chuckwalla National Monument in the southern California desert and the Sattitla Highlands National Monument near the state's northern border comes a day after Biden protected nearly every U.

Biden has federally protected 1,053,125 square miles of land and ocean in his term — an area nearly four times the size of Texas.
