Jeanette M. Nuñez was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She was elected as Florida’s first Hispanic female Lieutenant Governor in 2018 and was subsequently reelected in 2022. As Lieutenant Governor, she has been tasked with overseeing the Florida Department of Health, as well as serving as the Chair of Space Florida.

A member of the Republican Party, she represented Miami-Dade County in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018, also serving as speaker pro tempore for her final two years in the office. Nuñez is the first Hispanic American woman to serve as Florida's lieutenant governor.
